Transitions on Overlay Tracks

Hi,

I'm a new user of Video studio. I know how to edit basic video, however I've never done this job before : using the chroma key on the overlay track.
And then my first problem : I can't insert a transition between the two part on my overlay track. Thus how can I create a fading effect on these?

Second problem : I tried many exportation formats, but I didn't find how to let the transparent background remains (since I'd have wanted to put it over a Flash movie). Does one of the formats allow it? And which one (.avi .mov .mpeg, with which parameters)?

I have this software in french, so I hope I used the right words in my explanation... ( I bet it'll be difficult if I didn't).

Thanks for your help!

Maï

Your findings are correct, you cannot apply a fade to a clip that has been chroma-keyed. I don't know why. Hopefully that will be addressed in the next version.

What I do in that instance is render that specific clip (with the chroma-key) to it's own AVI file. I then import that AVI into my project, then being able to use fades and transitions.

As for outputting to a format that keeps transparancy, I don't think VS can do it. :(

Yeah, I also did it that way (and I saved my previous file, thinking hopefully someone would give me some tips).

Anyway thanks for your prompt answer (great help! on a french forum, I'd have waited days to eventually know nothing's possible)
