no sound on TV set

Post by VideoRolf »

Hello there again,
Lately I have had some questions and 'vidoman' and 'sjj 1805' gave me grate answers which were very helpful for me.
In the meantime I burned my first video with this -for me (new) program and I get used quite well to it. Really a great result so far as concerns the full HD on blue-ray.
I connected my PC by HDMI cable to my TV set and again the picture is great. Only I don't have any sound on TV set. There is sound on the PC but not on TV. I understood all the time that the HDMI connection is passing pic ture AND sound at the same time, isn't it?
Is there somebody who has any experience with this problem? I can't imagine that I am doing something wrong.
Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
Rolf :(

Yes HDMI does carry both video and up to 8 audio channels. However reading a little about HDMI on Wikipedia, even HDMI is not standardized.

Since your TV has 2 HDMI ports, have you tried both?

Thanks for your answer.
yes I have tried both, even 3 of HDMI (my mistake, I have 3 indeed). And so far as I know I do have the best cable there is (following the person who sold me this one).
Maybe there is one other point I forgot.
I am switching between the PC monitor and TV set with a electronic switch from Belkin between the two screens. To do so I had to install the NVIDIA possibilities and to clone the second screen (TV set). Could it be that there is a certain manner for sound separately? Anyway I can't find a thing like that.
Best regards
Rolf

You are using your tv as a monitor, so all that is passing down the cable is video.
You need to go through the graphics card settings to find out how to send the video/audio to the tv.
