VS 6.0 - DVD Burn Issues

Post by pcork »

I have Video Studio 6.0 and have had no problems with any of the functions and features except burning my movie to a DVD. I have downloaded the burning pack and the patches, but I have still not gotten a DVD to burn. I have burned a DVD in another program, so it's not an issue with my burner. Everything runs properly and it goes through the entire burning process and when it looks like it has completed the burn, instead of a pop-up that reads "Finished" I get a pop-up that reads "Cannot write to disk". I can't figure out what's missing, and why it would go through the entire process before giving me that error message. Any ideas?

What operating system do you use, and what file system? If you aren't using NTFS, you cannot create files larger than 4GB, which could become a problem depending on the length of your video.

You can also rule out the actual burning process as the culprit by outputting your UVS project to a VIDEO_TS folder or ISO file first, and then burning that separately using another program -- you've indicated that you've been able to do that successfully, so that would be a good starting point.

I thought the size might be an issue as well so at one point I created a rather small file - only about 15 minutes worth of video - and tried to burn it and couldn't get it to work either. My operating system is Windows XP.

What do you mean by outputting to a VIDEO_TS folder or ISO file? What steps do I need to take to do this? I have been successful burning a DVD in my Sonic MyDVD program so it seems to be something unique in the ULead program.

In the final screen of the disk creation procedure, you should see several checkboxes to control the output options. By default, the output destination should be your DVD burner, but you can also output to a VIDEO_TS folder (as is found on a DVD) or an ISO file.
