Don't see any preview

Hey, i have a USB cable that lets me capture video & audio but with Ulead im having some diffuclties. The priview screen is always black. The video is captured and i can hear sound but the preview screen never shows the video.

I've tried that:
In the Preferences dialog (keyboard shortcut of F6 or File menu>Preferences) on the General tab, look for the Instant Playback Target. You have 4 options in the drop-down menu:

* Preview Window
* DV Camcorder
* Preview Window and DV Camcorder
* Dual Head Device

Most likely it is still set to the default of Dual Head Device. Change that to Preview Window. Then you should be able to see your video..
and even when i set that option to Preview Window i still see black.

And another question, i always export my clips to divx with other softwares. With ulead i need to click "Share" --> Create Video File and than select custom, than select avi --> options and than i need to set my AVI preferences all over again. Can't i do that just once and save that profile?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums,
Hey, i have a USB cable that lets me capture video & audio....
A USB cable in and of itself does not capture or transfer video and audio. There must be some sort of device that it is attached to. What device are you using?

Please read this post, and return with as much of the information as possible.

Yes this is possible in VS, it's called the Make Movie Templates Manager, found under the Tools Menu. When it opens, select New, choose what File Format from the drop-down menu, provide a name for your template. Then the Template Options dialog window will open. Go to the AVI tab, and from the Compression drop-down menu, select the DivX codec. You can then also set the other options such as audio codec, Frame Rate, Frame Type, and Frame Size (found on the General Tab) , and anything else that you want to customize. When finished click OK, then Close.

Now when you go to Share>Create Video File, your template will be found on the menu toward the bottom...

Thanks for the first solution, i do however have a followup question. Is there a way, in the frame size to select something like "get from source" ?

i own this device:

My working pc is Xp Sp3 with 11.5

So you're trying to use this with the current release of VS, 11.5 + ? What version was included with your EasyCap? Generally those bundled versions are tweaked to work with the capture hardware.

Here's a post that may help out.. http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 493#161493

One problem that VS11+ has is it's ability capture an analog to digital conversion signal. This should have been corrected by installing the current Update pack.

I got VideoStudio SE (that had the same problem) with the drivers but i upgraded to 11.5+, i've also installed the hot fix.
I've looked trough the thread you suggested but i couldn't find a solution.

The "Hot Fix" is not the Update Pack, and it is intended only for those that receive the AVControl SDK error while installing VS, nothing else.

If you have not recently updated your DirectX drivers, go HERE and download the latest MS Direct-X drivers. The most current is dated June, 2008. It seems that recently updating your OS, can cause problems with NLEs such as VS, and so to fix them MS releases quarterly updates to DirectX. These are not part of the MS Windows updates, and must be downloaded and installed manually. They seem to fix a lot of problems...

I've located a video tutorial about EasyCap and VS, on YouTube, see if this may provide an answer for your problem...

Regarding the DivX template please view:
VS: Encoding in DivX format using Video Studio

Just to make sure we are singing from the same songsheet about the other matter. You say
I got VideoStudio SE (that had the same problem) with the drivers but i upgraded to 11.5+
the SE version cannot be upgraded to VS11.5+ with the various update patches, have you purchased VS11.0+/VS11.5+ :?:

Even if you're not making a DivX template use that tutorial as a general guide about how to create templates with the make movie manager.

I have found a video on You Tube about how to use it

I see what you mean and you appear to be doing everything correctly.
Perhaps you need to try re-installing it.
The fact it works on Vista also rules out the possibility of it being an SE limitation.

We are not Corel, we are users of the software like yourself.
