Screen goes to black when capturing

Post by tda42 »

I have a Sony RA-830 G with Windows XP SP2 installed. I have Ulead Studio Plus 11.5 installed. I am capturing from the composite in the front using a VCR to play back. The sources is set to smart capture and when I click on to it to start the capture the screen box in Ulead goes to black. You hear sound and it is capturing the video. You just can't see it while it is being captured. When it is idle you can see it. Is there something I am over looking here? Thank you for the help. :D

Welcome to the forums,

In the Preferences dialog (keyboard shortcut of F6 or File menu>Preferences) on the General tab, look for the Instant Playback Target. You have 4 options in the drop-down menu:
  • Preview Window
  • DV Camcorder
  • Preview Window and DV Camcorder
  • Dual Head Device
Most likely it is still set to the default of Dual Head Device. Change that to Preview Window. Then you should be able to see your video..
