Hi Everyone,

I'm extremely new to all this so please excuse my ignorance, i have tried searching the forum to answer my problems but can't seem to find what i'm looking for..although it may be a terminology thing.

so here goes..i hope you can help:-

I purchased a copy of VS 11 (normal version) a few months back and have been using it quite happily with AVI/MPEG etc grabbed from the SD card of my camera and also from the DVD-VR from my camcorder.

However I just invested in a new camcorder a Canon HG10, I was aware that the AVCHD codec was still new, but relieved that VS 11.5+ supported as I've always found VS easy to use.

So yesterday i went and purchased a boxed set of 11.5Plus

After many hours last night trying to get it to install, folder location conflicts, table errors etc etc, a few posts on here managed to get me sorted (windows clean up helped)

So with an installed version..that only showed 11plus..i messed around for a few more hours and ended up (after downloading the free upgrade patches) with version 11.5+ so i'm showing version 11.5.0157.2 in the ? window.

which according to other posts looks correct for AVCHD.

Okay, so i connected my HG10 all fine, I clicked on the Capture Tab on VS and then click IMPORT FROM DVD/DVD-VR or AVCHD button.

This allows me to set the location (my Camera Harddrive) and shows a list of all the clips, this allows me to review the clip in the preview window..the clip shows fine. So I select the clips to import..one at a time or a load, ity makes no difference.

The Capture then works..it shows % complete and does it quite quickly. Then sending me back to the main VS page.

However the captured clips do not show up on my clips available to edit, Looking via windows explorer into the Ulead Clip folder, the .m2t files are in the folder, where i would expect any captured stuff to be. however i can see them or bring them onto my timeline.

If i try i get a file format mismatch, it still looks like the editing part of the programme doesn't recognise avchd!

Anyone have any ideas?? any help greatfully appreciated!!

Cheers

me too - same issue , same camcorder

hello again

a slight update, i completely removed the VS11plus again and re-installed, after running the hotfix as i realised the programme hadn't installed correctly as per the hotfix issue

this time the disc installed much better but doesn't show the same version code, so i've downloaded the patches and upgrades from the corel site...and installed apparantly succesfully..however the version code still doesn't show the 11.5 as i had before

I'm a bit miffed as the boxed set i purchased is meant to be 11.5 plus straight out the box, the disc lables show 11.5 but all loading screens and manuals only show 11plus...there is a second disc in the box with media one and windvd8 but i don't think these help...

can anyone advise???

What can we say? Most of us originally bought VS11+ and upgraded to VS11.5+ with the version number (11.5.0157.2) which you originally had by downloading and installing in this order: the 6 November 2007 update patch and the 8 November 2007 Power Pack. Those are the two things that give that version number. You apparently needed to use the later hot fix for installation purposes, but as far as I am aware, that will not change the version number.

Now I don't know what comes in the box labelled VS11.5+, but it is worth looking at the two updates I mentioned. However, if all you are worried about is that the splash screen still only says Ulead Video Studio 11, then all of us have that. The update to VS11.5+ does not change the splash screen. Silly oversight, as far as I am concerned, but there you are.

VS11.5+ with the two November updates can certainly handle AVCHD, as long as your computer is sufficiently powerful to do so. It is an incredibly demanding format. But I do so on a regular basis with my computer (see my System button for details), and I regularly produce AVCHD hybrid discs on regular DVDs which play back in full AVCHD high definition on my Sony PlayStation 3 or other rated Blu-Ray player.

Looking at your computer specifications, I would have to say that it is not really resourced sufficiently to even be able to play AVCHD smoothly or even possibly at all. It just might be able to edit them using SmartProxy in Video Studio, but if you are planning on playing back to edited AVCHD in that same format, you will probably need a more powerful computer.

When I was supplied with the prizes for the winners of the recent competition the links I was given were for VideoStudio 11.0+ with a request that the recipients then download the following in order to bring it up to VS11.5+

Patch 1.
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Update Pack (Release Date: 2007/11/6) 27 MB

Patch 2.
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Power Pack (Release Date: 2007/11/8 ) 54 MB

Hmm.. I just downloaded 11.5+ with all the added updates etc., but my version ends in .1 and not .2 as does yours. Wonder what the difference is.

I just checked the website and I can not find a latest release file number.

I thought I was starting to make headway with the program when I suddenly got the message that the program encountered problems and must shut down. I purchased the full version so as to eliminate this type of problem. All will come out in the wash, I am sure.

To get the 2 on the end of the version number, you have to install the 6 November 2007 update patch. If you think you installed it already, try doing so again.

When you say your downloaded 11.5+, in fact you downloaded 11+. You need both the 6 November update patch AND 8 November Power Pack to get you to 11.5+ (11.5.0157.2) which is the version that can handle AVCHD if your computer is up to the job. You do NOT install the December 2007 Hot Fix unless you encounter the described single problem in installing the program for the first time. If the program actually installed, then forget about the Hot Fix forever...
