Canon HV10 and firewire capture

Post by jonroz »

I do not have ulead software, but am interested in trying it if anyone has had success capturing SD and HD video from the Canon HV10 via firewire to WinXP service pack 2. NeroVision 5 (comes with Nero 8) does not recognize my camera when turned on in Play mode via firewire. WinXP SP2 recognizes the name of my camera but cannot find a driver for it. The only software included with the camera is for the still photos it can take. Any help will be most graciously appreciated! Thank you!

Video Studio has captured HDV format (the type your camera uses) since VS10. So VS11+/11.5+ can definitely do it. I have a Canon HV20 and it works fine. Mind you, I have Vista, but various others users here with either the HV10, 20 or now the 30, use Vista or XP with no problems. And that is for capturing either in the high definition HDV/mpeg-2 format or SD DV/AVI format.
