help

Post by cherokee »

Hi, I downloaded a free trial version of DVD MovieFactory pro 7. After installed it, I was able to play back (AVCHD) (mts2) videos with Windows Media Player for the first 10 days and it ran really smooth with no jumping like other players. There are couple things I¡¦m having problems with: 1- I can not figure out why I can not play back (mt2s. m2t. mts) (AVCHD) videos using windows media player. 2- When I try to capture video from camera (canon HG 10) a message window pops up which states, ¡§No capture driver is available in the system¡¨, but I¡¦m still able to import pictures/transfer pictures from camera to pc. My operating system is a Vista Home Premium.

Hi,
You don't capture the video, you Import it using MF Import DVD-VR/AVCHD functions. It's in the manual.

The Import Icon is on the top right to the left of the preview screen.
Naviagate to your drive letter that windows assigns to your cam and find the AVCHD folder, then hit OK to import the cllps.
Put a check in the boxes of the videos your want to import and then hit import (or OK)..

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I did what you have suggested to me. After putting a check in the box of the videos, I clicked ok and then start. A message window popped up saying, ¡§There is no valid content¡¨. This is a link for a video of what happened/description of the problem I¡¦m having.

Hi,
Sometimes there may be more listings than there are videos.
Be careful not to check a box that may seem redundant.
You should also be able to preview the video (need a fast computer).

It's hard to help with advice related to avchd video because all the different models have their own little quirks. Some record on harddisk, others to mini-dvd's etc.

But that is the usual method to import vidos from an avchd device.
Some have posted that the index files created in the cams get corrupted and MF cannot read them correctly.

Another method is to load them directly from the STREAMS folder.
First copy the large videos to your local harddisk that are in the STREAMS folder that resides under the AVCHD folder. The small files are actually menu files because it's an AVCHD disk structure, so be careful not to try and load them because they will not load.

Then use MF insert video to load the m2ts or mts files. That would be the 2nd top Icon on the left (Insert Media).

On most systems Windows Media Player cannot playback avchd unless you have a player installed that shares it's avc codec with the system.

To playback avchd / m2t/mts/m2ts files you usually need one of the following programs. When they are installed then maybe Windows Media Player can use their avc/h264 codec to playback the videos.

Nero 8 Ultra ( Showtime 4)
Windvd 8 Ultra
PowerDVD 8 Ultra

Note: You should have at a minimum a Core2-Duo processor along with a good video card.
