photo express 6 incompat w vista so what is w same features?

Post by ladywolf »

I have used photo express 4.0 se with my xp machine and loved what you could do, ie the effects particles, bubbles firefly, star etc and the decorative edges 2d masks, etc easy to use and just the results i wanted. So when we had a machine with vista home premium i tried the version 6 trial, which apart from the gifs not saving has seemed great, the same as version 4.0 se but with added extras. However when i went to buy it it states that it is not compatible with vista and coral has no plans to produce a patch. So my question is what can i get that will be compatible with vista but have the capabilities of photo express version 6? I have downloaded coral paint pro photo x2 trial which hasn't got the same effects particles etc and neither has corel media one trial. It's a good thing they are trials or i would of wasted a lot of money. All i want is something with the same capabilities as version 6. I have looked at the help sites on coral and they say that you can still install and run a ulead software for window xp on windows vista by running the program compatability wizard, but they cannot guarantee full stability with window vista. Has anyone tried doing this and got a positive result? Or does anyone know of software that works with vista and has the features of 6.0 that i am looking for? Would be extremely grateful for any advice. Thank you.

photo express 6 incompat w vista so what is w same features?

Post by ladywolf »

Thank you for the advice of media one. I have downloaded the trial. However it hasn't got the same features; effects that express has got eg the particles, adding bubble, firefly, stars, rain, snow etc to projects. I know that i have only the trial version of media one, but the creating affects seems very basic, blackand white sepia, photo tubes, photo frames add text. I think i am just going to have to try and buy the photo express 6 version and hope that the compatability wizard works for vista, if no other suggestions are put forward. Has anyone tried this software with vista yet? If so please let me know if it runs fine with photo express 6. Thank you again.

Hi Onliner, so did i. Wish i would of waited for you, 23pound wasted! It says that it installed ok then you click on the icon and it keeps coming up that i am still on the trial version. Tried to Put in the activation code and it says it is incorrect. Tried to put in a question to corel and it popped up they don't offer support for this version anymore. Unistalled and re-installed and it puts it back as the trial and also sets the trial back to 30 days, and so the activation code for the full software will be a few hours out of date when trial runs out (you only have 30 days to activate full 6.0 unless you buy the download insurance, which was another 7quid and i didn't bother did i, if you pay the insurance you can download it when you want. The trial version worked with vista before i bought the software. I want to find software with the same features eg particle effects like the bubbles, fire fly, stars. Someone on the forum suggested media one but i have the trial and that doesn't have the particles. I am sorry that it doesn't work for both of us. Tried the paint shop pro and it doesn't have the particles and is too complicated for me, want something simple like photo express.

Hi ladywolf,

don't like media one plus.
I installed photo express 4, it will launch, fix images (resize, rotate..etc) but I cannot get anything to save.

When photo express 4 launches, a window opens with the following message "failed to update system registry. Please try using regedit"
Don't know what to make of that. :?

Anyway, it will have to do for now.
