How do i uncheck "use hardware decode acceleration?&quo
Hi,
I have blu-ray player installed in my pc and I have windvd9 plus blu-ray software.
I'm just wondering how to disable "use hardware decode acceleration" in the video option. Everytime I uncheck and hit apply, it goes back to checked.
it is my video card driver forcing back to enable it? if so how do i make it so that i can uncheck that hardware acceleration?
my pc specs are these incase if helps:
cpu: core2duo 6750 oc'ed 3.6
ram: corsair 4gb @ 800, 4-4-4-12
video: geforce 8800gtx
sound: creative fatal1ty
OS: vista 64bit ultimate
p.s: and everytime i play the video from pc to tv via dvi cable, the screen zooms in a little, how do i fix that problem? (video control bars are cut off half from the bottom of my screen, resolution set to 1080p/60hz) and yes my tv supports 1080p.

I did a aearch of the internet and the concensus of opinion is that you cannot turn off hardware acceleration on Vista. I then looked in the built in Windows Help Files in Vista and found the following:
Changing the acceleration speed
While using high-performance software, the system may slow or lag while loading graphics. You can manually control the acceleration and performance of your video card.

I tried that and the change settings button was grayed out. It might be that only certain video cards can have the acceleration altered when running Vista.Click here to open Display Settings.
Click Advanced Settings....
Click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change settings.
If prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
Move the Hardware acceleration slider to your desired speed.
Click OK three times to exit Display Settings.

I can't disable acceleration either. It keeps turning itself on. I'm using an 8800GT GPU. I was able to have partial success by going into the Nvidia Control Panel and where you are offered to choose between using Nvidia's or your video player setting I changed them around so that the 'apply button' became active and then clicked on apply and enhancements worked for a while but so far only certain clips seem to work and I have been unable to get both audio and video enhancements working playing ordinary dvd's so I hope I didn't waste my money on something that's never going to work.

My take on disabling h/w acc. is you can't for Blu'ray/HDDVD because of the need for a protected audio/video path required by the content providers. A couple of links for your perusal see if you agree.

For DVD the horse as left the stable.

Update for those curious...
Sony support told me that a drive requirement for Blu-ray is having hardware acceleration on.
I'm now asking them whether or not buying a better drive or a different brand will make a difference.
Has *anyone* here been able to use options like Trimension, Digital Motion Flow, etc. on a blu-ray movie and actually have them work?

However this applies only to DVD playback because no matter what you set once you play Blu-ray the HW acceleration is enabled automatically and All2HD has no effect at all even though it seems to be On.spitfire_ch wrote:since the latest patch has been installed, you have to stop the movie (not just pause, STOP it), and then you can turn on/off hardware acceleration. Witch hardware acceleration off, you can also activate trimension.
