VCD Displays Images of Poor Quality

Post by WSC »

I created a VCD slideshow with top quality high resolution pictures from my Canon 30D. The images displayed with terrible quality on my HD TV. These images will make excellent prints that are very large. Why is the slideshow so poor?

Compare the frame size of your originals and the frame size allowed by VCD and it might dawn on you already.

VCD is the poorest image quality you can get on a CD. Quality is synonymous with file size. The video quality one can expect to get from a VCD is less than VHS tape. Why do you think they went to DVD first and with the advent of HD TV to Blueray?

I'm afraid you will have to forget about VCD if you want to see high quality images on a HD TV.

Makes sense. So how can I produce the best quality display of my high resolution pictures on my TV?

Thanks!
