Dumb question...

How do I stop anything I drag into the main video track from auto snapping to the very begining? Like if I wanted a video clip to start at
00:00:30 instead of 00.00.00.

It won't let me move the clip either once I add it.

The way I am doing it now is to just make a solid black .bmp and add it first, stretching it to where I want the vid to start.

There is prolly a simple way to do this, i'm just to dumb to figure it out, lol.

By design any clip in the main video track is to move to the left to keep from having any blank spaces.

Instead of creating a black image file and inserting it, VS provides color mattes, or color blocks for this purpose. From the Library Drop-down menu select Color to open the color library. Then drag one to the main video track as a placeholder. You can set the duration of the color-clip/block to however long you need it to be..;)

Also, the overlay track allows you to place a clip anywhere, without it snapping to the beginning or to the next clip.
