Description of the Sony CCD-TRV608
Found a review here
A slightly better description here
From my experience a USB connection is poor and only good for using a camcorder as a webcam or for transferring still images. Digital Camcorders use an IEEE1394 firewire link which is more reliable - but the Hi8 camcorder does not have one. When I used to use a Hi8 Camcoder I connected the camcorder by way of RCA plugs to a TV card and record the video into my computer that way.
Sorry of its not much help.

well, I am certainly not using a standard usb cable to record stuff, I have a usb rca/s-video adapter (usb to laptop, 3 rca and s-video to cam) that I use, but I can't find any info on this time stamp thing on the sample, I looked into the manual, but there is nothing about it, what do I do?

Only thing I can suggest is to download the 30 day free trial of
Womble MPEG Wizard
it has a tool for fixing PTS (Program Time Stamps). Once done you can export the video from Womble and Import it into VideoStudio.

VS9 is not compatible with Vista.
VS10 is, but only after being updated with the Vista pack.
The Vista update pack cannot be applied to the SE version.

to me, it kinda looks like u have never tryed any of these two products on Vista... as a matter of fact, BOTH VS 9SE and 10SE WORK with Vista, without any updates, and I have succesfully imported an hour of filming from my sony cam. The problem was the driver for this EasyCap adaptor... The driver that comes with the bundle acsually works better than the one I get through windows update, one which acsually appears to be newer than the one on the cd, but, unfortunately does not work. Bottom line is, BOTH these products work perfectly under Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP1, but the driver needs to be the good one...
I have an other question though, as I recorded this hour of streaming, I ended up with a 62 gig file... it is an .avi file, 30 fps, 151242 kbps bitrate, frame width 640, frame height 480, length 00:56:46. How do I rerecord this into a smaller format that would fit a DVD?
