I have VideoStudio 11 Plus running under Windows XP/SP2/HE.
I wish to change the duration of all the images in a slide show. However, I wish to change them from 4 seconds to 3 seconds 16 frames, so that changing the default in File Preferences is not possible.
Vidoman has previously suggested that all the images should be selected and then go to the Clip menu and select Change Image/Color Duration. Unfortunately this does not always seem to work. If you start a new project and insert images only, then it works. However, if you have an existing project containing images, colors and transitions then I find that the Change Image/Color Duration command is greyed out. Even if I delete the colors, transitions and any ripple editing, which leaves only the images, the method will not work. The Change Image/Color Duration command is still greyed out.
Is there any way to solve this problem?

I've been playing around a bit more and I find that if I open a project that contains images, color, transitions, titles and ripple editing, and then disable ripple editing only, that the Change Image Color/Duration command is no longer greyed out. Unfortunately, when I try to use it, it says that VideoStudio has encountered an error and needs to close, at which point it promptly crashes.

A further point. It would seem that the Ripple Editing problem was noticed nearly 2 years ago. See the last post from jchunter.

Now, if somebody can just tell me how to stop it crashing . . .

A further progress report.
After further experimentation, it would seem that you can't change the duration of multiple images if you have transitions. It crashes VideoStudio - at least it does for me. However, it does work for a single image.
So, if you want to change the duration of multiple images in a slideshow, you must first:
1) Disable any Ripple Editing.
2) Remove any transitions.
And if you have a few hundred images in the slide show, how do you remove them all? Well, interestingly, there isn't a way to do this at one fell swoop. There is however a rather clumsy work around. Select the first transition and then alternatively hit Delete and the Right Arrow Key as fast as you can. Ignore the fact that your fingers will be well ahead of the screen display - the PC will eventually catch up.
All in all, this does not show VideoStudio Help in a very good light. I did try looking, but didn't find anything. Anything useful came from this Forum or my own efforts. I'd be interested in any comments.

Unfortunately you can only work to the nearest second using the defaults, whereas you can work to the nearest frame using Change Image/Color Duration. My images were set at 4 seconds with a 1 second transition, which results in 3 seconds per steady image. If I had changed the default image duration to 3 seconds this would have given 2 seconds per steady image which was too brief for my taste. I decided that setting the Image duration to 3 1/2 seconds, ie 3 seconds 12 frames, would suit me best.sjj1805 wrote:Would it not be easier before you start a project to set the default duration in

I think it is probably to late to make it to the current Wish List, I think they are dotting the eyes and crossing the teas on VideoStudio 12.
Might be worth putting this in the new wish list which I will create following the release of VS12.
