DVD Burner Not Being Recognized

Hi,
Please see my signature to see my setup. Well, I used to be able to burn DVDs when using VS 10. Since I upgraded to 11.5 PLUS (or may be even 11) I am unable to burn DVDs of using VideoStudio. Note: I can burn DVDs using Windows Movie Maker. I have also tried an external DVD Burner but even that is not being recognized by VS. There are no errors: Simply nothing happens when I click on the 'Next' button during Create a Disk wizard.
I have tried to solve this problem but removing all CD/DVD burning software but still no good. What could be happening?
Thanks,
Meengla

In addition to Steve's links, it has become almost a mantra with me over the past couple of months to suggest people first go to the Microsoft DirectX website and download the latest update patch. The current one is dated June 2008 and can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Note that it updates both DirectX 9.0c (XP) and 10 (Vista). The number of your DirectX installation will not change, but the patch gives extra functionality in a number of areas and corrects other faults in VS11 in particular which appear linked to Windows updates. Problems associated with getting to the final burning stage seem to be amongst them.

Note that DirectX is not included in the usual pattern of Windows automatic updates. It has to be done every so often by the user manually. So unless you have recently done this, you are probably still using the original, non-updated version of DirectX which came with your computer.

That's it: I needed to install the DVD burner patch!

VS has now recognized the burner and is burning right now.

Thanks a bunch!

It is true that Ken's suggestion about DirectX installation fixed another problem for me recently.
Thanks a bunch to all of you! I had almost given up on VS because of these issues. But this helpful Forum is a life saver.

After downloading the main content packs for VS11+ my dvd drive was suddenly not being recognised??

Downloaded and installed this patch and all is well now.

Thanks for the link.
