I got the answer to "Convert Step Got Some Problems&quo

Post by david_k_jordan »

Greetings:
I thought I would pass onto all of you that I fixed the issue that I had with "Convert Step Got Some Problems" (4101).

I called Ulead and actually got through to them...I explained this issue to them in depth...below are the steps they took...

1. I unistalled all versions of VS on my system (I had VS 8...so VS 9 required VS 8 to install the upgrade).

2. I went to the Documents and Settings and under my user profile I went to the Application Data folder (ensure you can view all files, because this one is normally hidden) and went to the Ukead Systems folder and deleted the .ini file there and the Video Studio folder(s)

3. Then again back in the Documents and Settings folder under the All Users folder and did the same as step #2.

4. Then in the Program Files folder there is a folder called Installshield Installation Information in this folder you will see several long folder names...open each one and look for a Setup.INI file and open each one...under the APP NAME= look for the one that is Video Studio...and delete that folder ONLY!

5. Then again in the Program Files directory go to the Ulead Systems folder and delete any folder that is Video Studio.

6. Now the daunting part...go to Reg Edit (Start, Run...type Regedit). Under HKEY_CurrentUser, and HKEY_LocalMachine and locate the Software folder...under this folder locate the Ulead Systems and delete any reference to Video Studio in both locations (remember, back up your registry before making changes!)

7. Now re-install, and that should be it.

Please feel free to email me @ david.jordan@gmail if you have questions about this...I will be happy to walk you through it.

When you said you reinstalled, do you mean you reinstalled v8, too?

Yes, since I had the upgrade of VS 8...I needed to reinstall VS 8 first, then VS 9.

This process does not work for me. I installed a complete copy of VS9 and the problem was present. I then uninstalled and re-installed and the problem was still there - i followed the procedure in the stickys but I still get the error. It is very frustrating to use VS9.
