Highest quality AVCHD disc

I have 1920x1080i 16Mbs AVCHD format (m2ts) footage. After editing in VS11.5+ I create an AVCHD file with the original file parameters, and turn off smart render( need to do this, otherwise the rendering locks up after a while). Then go to the burning module and import the saved video file and burn, again using the original footage parameters (template). I also check "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" box and the X-Disc box. It all works OK, but would it be better to put edited files straight into the burning module. Because there is only one (combined?) step involved, I think the final result would be better...Up to now I don't have a blu-ray (PS3) player to veryfy...
