Is there anyway I can use some of the Movie Wizards layout? The one I want to customize is the opening one of 4 photos. I would like put a different one in each quadrant. The wizard is fairly nice except too many moves on each photo. What I do is remove most of them and put in a static shot.

It's nice to start out with the Movie Wizard and then use my own ideas to reedit some of it. works pretty good.

Also when I find out an effect that I like is there a way to put them into a file that I can get to. I don't like going through every set to get what I like. I would think "Favorites" is the place. Just not sure how to put them there.

The only way to really customize them is in the Editor, which I think you've already discovered. There's no means to customize them within the Wizard.

Transition Effects can be added to the My Favorites Library by right-clicking on an effect and selecting Add to My Favorites. Video Filters however can not..

You can place other pictures or clips in the quadrants. Just place this one in the desired overlay track and copy paste the properties of the former one.

Thanks for the info guys...I got it. Now if someone can tell me how to get rid of the overlay tracks. I have 6 of them. All empty and can't find the way to delete them.

VS is a rather no "user friendly operation" I am spending hours with it and learning by my mistakes. The best is getting info from this Forum. You are the best User's Guide available.!

Above the timeline is an icon that looks like a movie reel. Clicking on that opens the Overlay Track Manager.

If you don't have a manual they are available in pdf format from Ulead.com.

Just open the overlay track manager, and uncheck all the tracks you don't want...

No, I disagree with you on VS not being very user-friendly. Compared to some others it is very User Friendly, that's one of the main reasons I've stuck with it so long. Not to mention try finding the help like this web board for the others. To see, go ahead and download a trial version of one of the competitors similar packages.

I've tried a lot off video programs. I am constantly watching competitors. Ulead still wins hands down IMO.

I too have really enjoyed the support and tutorials from this board. Still using VS10+, but look forward to seeing improvements worth upgrading for in 12.
I have found the Wizard useful for making special intros. I put a few images or videos into the timeline of the Wizard, save as a VSP file and then insert that VSP into another project later. I suppose you could also make a video file of that Wizard intro and insert it.
Any advice on rendering video files that you DON'T want to burn as a disk right away, but perhaps insert them into a complilation disk later? What would be the best quality video file format? MPEG or AVI? Also, Square Pixel setting...what is best if you are always going to play your output on a large Plasma TV? Thanks!

I often do just that. I make a family video for the entire year. Rather than put it together all at one time I do it as events occur. After each event is editied I render it to a DVD-compatible MPEG-2, since that is what will go on the finished DVD, and it sits on my hard drive until they are all ready to be compiled.
