Video Studio 11 Plus Stops Working

Post by G Allen »

Hello,

I have recently purchased your video studio 11 plus after becoming very frustrated with Pinnacle!!! Unfortunately it appears as though I may have made an error in that judgement but I wanted to give this one last try!!!

I have a couple of issues: 1) When I'm trying to capture video from a composite connection (I have not tried digital yet) through my computer using Video Studio 11 plus there seems to be about a 2 - 3 second delay before the capture process actually begins, thus causing me to rewind 5 or more seconds before capturing what it is that I'm looking to capture!!! When I hit the start capture button the capture screen goes blank and I have no clue where the video I'm about to capture is going to actually start, it could be well before the intended point of interest, or after what I want to capture, very frustrating to say the least!!! Therefore I find myself rewinding the video tape way earlier than the actual portion I'm interested in capturing, as not to miss the part I am trying to capture!!!

Is there any way to correct this capturing delay???

Welcome to the forums,

Capturing analog video from a VCR is a bit tricky, no matter what consumer grade NLE you're using. The main reason is that the program does not control the player. So you will most likely capture a little more than intended. Shouldn't be a problem though, because you're going to edit it right? Well that's the biggest part of editing, cutting out what you don't want..

Now in the Preferences dialog (File menu>Preferences or keyboard shortcut of F6), look on the Capture tab at the very top. Is there a check beside Press Ok to Capture? I think by default it is not. If so check it. This will allow you to start your VCR tape rolling slightly before your intended capture point. Then just press the OK and VS should start capturing.

You should find working with digital, especially DV transfered via firewire is much easier as the program can control your camcorder.
