I have reinstalled the VS11plus patch and I have lost all my library manager directories that I have created, Is there a way I can bring them back. I haven't lost the actual video files just the extra video library menus I created,

You probably would not loose the video files, unless you stored them in the folder that houses the *.dat files VS uses for the various libraries. Those files are generally found under the C:\Documents and Settings\UserNameHere\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0 if your running WinXP, for Vista they are found: C:\Users\UserNameHere\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0.

Now with that said if you did not back-up or copy the following files, VS_Audio.dat; VS_Image.dat; VS_Video.dat; VS_Title.dat, to another location on your system, then when you re-installed VS they were replaced. Unless doing a system restore (which I don't think is possible with Vista), to a time prior to your crash and reinstallation, then I'm afraid you'll have to rebuild those libraries..

Well ok, I now looked for it (System Restore) and found it....

Thanks guys for your replies., but I am not talking about the actual video files, those are stored in another disk, I am talking about the Video library Manager Folders names that I have created and the relevant thumbnails that go with it.

And in my previous post I described those Library files which are Dat files, and where they are located. If you did not back-up those "dat" files then you lost them when you reinstalled VS..

I am using VS10+ and would appreciate what key files to back up in case (which has happened far too often) I have to do a reinstall due to some VS problem. The library files and any others that would normally be lost during a reinstall. Thanks!

As Ron stated, the *.dat files are the ones you want to back up.

Back up the following
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0

Vista.
c:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0

Replace Stephen with your Windows User name.
Replace 11.0 with your version of VideoStudio.

If you have installed extra transitions such as Burger or Hollywood FX, Boris FX etc then back up

C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\vfx_plug
Replace 11 with your version of VideoStudio.

Back up any assets used in your projects such as videos, images, sound files etc.

Hit a similar problem a while ago on updating to VS 11+ but luckily had a backup of VS10 files and managed to find the relevant files. However, I've now hit another problem re. the Library. I'm storing all my image and video info. in custom Library folders and, as a well-trained computer user, I'm setting up named folders within the Library to store images etc. However, on creating a new folder in the Image Library (successfully) when I try to access it VS automatically jumps to the Audio Library for no reason. Is there a maximum number of folders in each Library? have I reached this limit and VS is 'dropping off the end' and into the next Library? There is no info. at all in any VS documentation. Anyone got any ideas on this one?

I believe there is a limit, although I don't remember what it it. If I remember correctly, it just wouldn't allow me to create another one. I don't know why it would be opening another. Are you sure you created it in the right directory (i.e. in Images and not Audio)?

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, I've created the folder in Images and it appears at the bottom of the list of custom folders in the Image set. It is number 41, and appears right at the bottom of the page. However, when I click on it it goes straight into the Audio Library... ho hum.
Looks like I'm going to have to re-think the way I use the library. I was hoping to be able to use it rather like the folder/sub-folder system in Windows but VS will not allow sub-folders. If there is also a limit to the number of folders in each library that will restrict any systematic approach to storage and subsequent flexibility a bit.
