Hello All. I am trying to convert some of my old VHS tapes onto VCD. I am using a Samsung VP-103 DV camcorder to record to DV from VHS. The VHS machine is mono with only one audio out. The picture quality is superb. Then I capture to my PC using UVS 7SE and Firewire. When I playback the project or burn to VCD the sound only appears on one channel(speaker). Is there a setting that I'm overlooking that will enable the sound to be audible left and right even though it is mono.
TIA
VHS to VCD

The easiest solution I see would be to buy an rca jack y adapter to connect to your vcr that will allow you to split the mono audio out to both the left and right of your input device. Of course it would still be mono, but would be heard thru both speakers. Another option would be purchase a stereo vcr.

Hi
The chances are that you are capturing to Stereo, the second track is there but has no content.
You have a few options:-
1/
If possible change the cameras audio output settings, My camera allows me to select
L / R channels (normally selected)
L / L channels
R / R channels
Presumably if I have a mono source I can select which channel will make up the second stereo sound.
--------------------------------
2/
During recording to your Camcorder I assume you are using composite cables.
Use a cable that splits the mono signal into two, left and right channels.
This will give you the same channel on both left & right.
-------------------------------------
3/
If you have already captured to stereo Dv-Avi
Your ‘project properties’ should match your clip properties, check and make sure.
Now edit your project properties changing the audio from Stereo to Mono.
Create a ‘new video file’ of your project using ‘Same as project settings’
This should remove the second (right audio track) which exists but has no sound.
Start a new project, import the file made in 3 above.
Change the project audio settings back to Stereo.
This should copy the left audio to the right, creating Stereo.
Not true stereo but you should have sound through both speakers.
Hope this helps
