I recently bought Ulead Video Studio 9.0 SE DVD and had no problems capturing video or editing it, but I can't get it to save a video or to burn a disc. I keep getting the same error message every time - "Ulead VideoStudio has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I'm working with Windows XP.
When I click on the information for the error report, the signature at the top says:
AppName: vstudio.exe
AppVer: 9.0.0.0
ModName: uvmpeg2.dll
ModVer: 8.0.0.0
Offset: 00014744
The file that was sent for the error report: C:\DOUCME~\LOCALS~1\Temp\97e6_appcompat.txt
"The instruction at "0x73dd11c7" referenced memory at "0x0000004". The memory could not be "read".
I remember getting these before in a prior Ulead program and they were usually because some of the video was corrupted, but I have tried to save different sections of the video and they seem to work, but it won't burn the whole video. Help?

VS9SE is a bundled free version, not a full featured version. What hardware did you purchase, that included VS? SE versions lack some features as the full versions, and may have been tweaked by the hardware manufacturer to work specifically with their product.
VS9 has some issues that required installing patches, however these do not work with SE, or TBYB versions.
What workflow are you using? Are you first going to Share>Create Disc and using the project file in the burn module? Even though this is possible by design, it causes problems to many, so a Suggested Workflow was created.
What are the properties of the source files being used? Please right-click on a video clip in either the Library or on the timeline, select properties and post them back here.

RE:
I bought the VS SE 9.0 over the web by itself - I wasn't aware there were problems with it that might not allow me to do burn discs.....
As for workflow, yes I am going to Share>create disc and then using the project file settings. Here is a clip from the properties:
File format: Microsoft AVI files -- Open DML
Frame rate: 29.970 frames/sec
Data rate: 3512.11 kbps
Video compression: DV Video Encoder -- type 1
Attributes: 24 Bits, 720x480, 4:3
I can't understand why I can save a video or burn a disc with a portion of my video, but not the whole project. I'm experimented with different sections of it to try to figure out where the problem is, but haven't found a specific clip that is causing the problems.

First, you have, as Vidoman gently suggested, been had. If you bought an SE version over the web, you are the victim of fraud. Every SE version of VS ever made is distributed free, usually bundled with with a piece of hardware of some kind. 'SE' means 'Special Edition' and they are all crippled in some way or another. Since yours includes DVD in the title, it means it can certainly produce a DVD...
Anyway, read that link that Vidoman has already posted (Suggested Workflow). With your edited project in the timeline of the Editor, choose Share > Create Video File > DVD, and not Share > Create Disc > DVD. That will produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2.
Note also that after you produce your new mpeg-2, you go to File > New Project. Don't worry about giving your new project a name. The objective is just to clear the timeline of your current project.
Once that is done, you select Share > Create Disc > DVD. The burning module will open. Use the Add Media button at the top to insert your new mpeg-2 in the burning timeline. Then go to the middle of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen. There is a little box beside the words 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files'. Make sure that box is ticked (it usually is by default). That way, your already compliant mpeg file will not be re-encoded. Then build your menus and burn.
