Installing upgrade of upgrade

Post by borgunit »

Hi
I have MSP 7 and have recently did a reinstall of XP Pro on my computer. No issue there but when I went to reinstall MSP7, it wants to find a previous version of a ULead product. Okay, I have my VideoStudio 8 disks. But that also was an upgrade from VideoStudio SE. Do I need to install SE again. My issue is I can't find my SE disk(s). I do not know if I am hosed or what. Any suggestions?

If VS8 was a qualifier for upgrade to MSP7, then you should be able to use it.

You do not even need to install VS. During the installation of MSP, it will say something like, "Can't find your qualifying app. Please point us to it". If you have 2 CD drives, put the VS into the 2nd one and tell it that it's there. If you have only one drive, you have to open the drive, take out the MSP one, put in the VS one, tell it that it's there. It will then, after a wee moment, tell you to put the MSP CD-ROM back, press enter and Bob's your uncle. It does not ask you to go back along the chain of upgrades.

NB: this info is derived from what happened some years ago: I've no reason to believe it has changed since.

I will give that a shot and see what happens. I hate to thank the devil, but thanks.
