This is a newbie question ...

I have created my first project of videos shot with my HD camcorder. When I attempt to Share->Create Disc->Blu-ray, I am presented a frame where I check the "Create Menu" option and the "Use first clip as introductory video" option. BTW, neither of these selections has any effect on the problem observed in the next paragraph.

The "Next" button at the bottom right of this frame is dimmed out and un-selectable. And Yes, I have a Blu-ray burner and I have inserted writeable media into it.

Does anybody have a clue as to why the Next button is dimmed out?

It has become almost a mantra with me over the past couple of months to suggest people first go to the Microsoft DirectX website and download the latest update patch. The current one is dated June 2008 and can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
Note that it updates both DirectX 9.0c (XP) and 10 (Vista). The number of your DirectX installation will not change, but the patch gives extra functionality in a number of areas and corrects other faults in VS11 in particular which appear linked to Windows updates. Getting past the Next button seems to be amongst them.

Note that DirectX is not included in the usual pattern of Windows automatic updates. It has to be done every so often by the user manually. So unless you have recently done this, you are probably still using the original, non-updated version of DirectX which came with your computer.

Thank you, Ken. This fixed the problem, although choosing the option to "Use first clip as introductory video" results in the Next button being dimmed. I don't know what selecting that option would do, but was planning to play around with it. Oh well, at this point I'm just happy to be able to burn.

'Use first clip as introductory video' is just that -- a short intro to the menu and main videos. So you of course have to have other videos in the burning timeline which would follow the intro. Otherwise, 'Next' has nothing to move on to... if you see what I mean...
