I'm pretty sure that I am doing this the very hard way.

I have a VS stock intro video at the beginning of my timeline, then a title fading in a few moments later. First my fade in takes too long to fully materialze and I want it to last longer so I dragged it out longer in the timeline - problem is now it takes all the longer for the text to fully materialize!
What I did since I could not find any attribute that would adjust the fade in time of the title... was to do a screen capture of the title text and add that bmp image that VS makes back into the timeline immediately behind the original title fade in. My hard way allows me to control how quickly the title fades in and I can stretch out my bmp to my longer time. BUT I can burn to DVD using 4:3 aspect ration but strange things happen when I try to burn using 16:9 !!!
What do I do???

With your title in the timeline, drag it up to the Titles library. That will make a copy of it (we'll get to that one later).

Now with the one in timeline, adjust it's length and apply the animation. Under the preview window you will see two blue triangular-shaped handles. Sliding those will adjust your fade in/out.

What I normally do is first set my fade in duration. I then drag that copy that we made from the library to the timeline. I turn off any animation so it is just a static title. I then drag another copy down to the timeline and set my fade out. So you will have 3 titles on the track - fade in, static, fade out.

When I highlight my Title that is down in the T timeline, things under 'Animation' are greyed out. I took a preloaded title file and changed the text in order to get my title to work with initially.... but even selecting other preloaded titles, animation is greyed out.

You need to highlight it in the Preview Window by clicking on it. Then the animations will be activated. Just selecting it in the title track does not activate the animations.

Thank you Vidoman Obviously I don't use Ulead enough to stay current on things like that. Every few years I'll have a simple video to create. Guess I have gotten used to so many other programs being intuitive enough that even I can use it.
