I have used many different video editing packages and really like videostudio. The high quality output and many features make it a solid product.
However, I am confused why there is no way to change the speed of an audio or video clip in smaller than 1% increments. 1% is a very large increment, even when dealing with a 3 minute clip. An exact sync is near-impossible. .1% would be a great deal better.
I see in the 'change speed' dialog that you can also choose the clip duration, down to 10ths of seconds. But when I do this it seems to 'snap' to the nearest percent.
Is there no way to change the speed in smaller increments than 1% or am I missing something?
Any way to change speed in smaller increments?

No, there is no way that I know of to change the speed at more or less than 1% increments.
Also, the smallest increments for clip duration are not tenths of seconds, but are frames. The 00:00:00.0 represents hours:minutes:seconds:frames. There are 30 frames (actually 29.97) per second for NTSC (N. America/Japan) and 25 frames for PAL (Europe/Australia).

I read your post on the Wish List thread and I better realize what you are trying to do. You mentioned that reducing the speed of a 3 minute clip by 1% only reduces it by 2 seconds (actually 1.
. But if you cut that 3 minute clip into 3 clips at 1 minute each, that 1% reduction is now about half a second (.6).
I know it's not exactly what you are looking for but it could be a work-around.

Yes, I know and use this workaround. It's actually quite easy in VS to split a clip into 4 parts and artifically create a .25% change. But since they went through the coding to nicely change the clips by 1%, I assumed it would be a small addition to give us 0.1% or 0.01% and make the feature much more usable.
Re: Any way to change speed in smaller increments?
Here we are, 5 years after I asked this question, and 7 years after someone else asked it. So I will ask again, does X6 allow for speed changes in finer increments than 1%?

To be honest, I am not sure. However, X6 has both a variable speed control and a speed/time lapse control which may do what you are after. Install the trial version and test it out for yourself...
