Hi,

I run with Ulead VideoStudio 11 for almost 6 Months without a problem, however..

Now, I try to create a DVD disk (via Share menu) with chapters. Normally I never use chapters.

Manually, I added some chapters, when done, I try to create a DVD. After a few seconds Ulead crashes. When I do the same project without chapters, a DVD is created successfully.

From the forum I understood that DirectX should be installed, the DirectX version running on my system is DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904). Btw, the Ulead Version is 11.0 including the update release of Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Power Pack and the Ulead VideoStudio 11 Update Pack, so 11.5.0157.2 Plus).

What else needs to be installed on my system as a pre-requisite for Ulead Videostudio to run properly?

Unfortunately, I don't run XP on my computer, so cannot cross-check the number of the latest version for XP. You need to note, however, that DirectX is installed as part of Windows. Every PC has some version on it. XP uses DirectX 9.0c, whereas Vista uses Direct X 10. But you also need to know that DirectX is not included in the usual pattern of Windows automatic updates. It has to be done every so often by the user manually. So unless you have recently done this, you are probably still using the original, non-updated version of DirectX which came with your computer.

Unless you have manually updated it recently, you should go to the Microsoft DirectX website and download the latest update patch. The current one is dated June 2008 and can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
Note that it updates both DirectX 9.0c (XP) and 10 (Vista). The patch gives extra functionality in a number of areas and corrects other faults in VS11 in particular which appear linked to Windows updates. The menu preview and 'building preview graph' problems seem to be amongst them.

We need to know more about the source of your material, what it is and how it got there. Some information concerning the DVD Menu Structure would also help such as which Menu Template(s) are being used. Did you insert a VideoStudio Project file into the "Create Disc" phase or have you rendered an MPEG2 video file first from the editing phase and inserted that video into the "Create Disc" phase.

It is more likely to be a work flow or corrupt source material issue than a failure to install ancillary software. DirectX 9.0c is the latest version for XP.

I tried to reproduce the situation I had in order to collect additional information. However, I can not reproduce it anymore... So I'll have to wait until it happens again!
