Problem to go from VS9 to VS11

Post by Buddy1964 »

Hi,

i want to go from VS 9 to VS 11.
So, i have dismount VS9 by using System/Software, removing all directories called Videostudioi, remove entrys in the registry but nothing helps.
If i start the VS 11 setup he find an older Version of this Product and cancel the setup, so the message.

So, what can i do for removing VS9 complete so that the setup of VS11 will run?

Thanks a lot four your assistance.

Regards Uwe

Welcome to the forums,

I've never heard of or experienced this sort of issue with VS. It is not required to uninstall earlier versions before installing the current version. I have installed on my desktop PC, VS8-VS11+.

Can you clarify if your trying to install VS11 trial, full or upgrade? If it is the latter you just need to enter the serial number for VS9 when prompted.

Did you have VS11 Trial installed at the time you tried to install VS11 Full/upgrade version?

VS9 should not have any effect on installing VS11. It's when you have the same version installed. Search your system for VS11.

Ron

If Buddy1964 has uninstalled VS 9 and VS 11 is an upgrade then on install it will ask for identification of the older version to allow the upgrade. (At least that happened when I installed VS 10) Buddy has uninstalled VS 9.

Is the install process requesting identification / serial number of an earlier version.

Is the software a full version or an upgrade?

Just a thought

Trevor,

Yes I'm aware that installing an upgrade asks for the serial number of the qualifying version. That does not appear to be the OP's situation, at least not the way I"m reading his posts. His problem seems to be that VS 11 sees another version and is requiring him to uninstall it before VS11 will install....

Hi Ron,

exactly this is the situation. So, who can VS11 see. that VS9 was installed before? This is the question ...

Hi

A little problem with the language barrier.

I have used google to translate to German, hopefully this will help.

When you upgrade from VS 9 to VS 11

You have to provide the VS 9 serial number.

This is what I see when installing VS 10
Image
I enter the serial number for the old version.

VS 9

Hi Trevor,

the error message come before VS11 is asking me for a serial no. so i have no chance giving VS a serial no.

VS9 should not have any effect on installing VS11. It's when you have the same version installed. Search your system for VS11.

Not sure what you are doing Uwe. When you go to the Knowledge Base, under Product and Services you choose VideoStudio. Under Search Text type Error 2711 and up pops your answer.

The url is an extremely long string and for some reason it won't let me imbed it here. :?
