Does anyone have experience with VS 11.5+ as far as capturing and editing HD files?

Yes, there are a few of us. But we have to have a clearer idea of what you want -- and what you have tried which apparently hasn't worked!

Thank you, by the way, for providing your computer details. That is a great help. As you would be aware, your camera uses the AVCHD format which is incredibly demanding of computer resources. So having a Quad, as you do, is a major positive factor.

Now you say you have Video Studio 11.5+ -- and that is the correct version to be able to handle AVCHD properly. But can you please click on the ? symbol in the top right of the Video Studio screen, then select 'About Ulead Video Studio'. The version number on the new splash screen should be 11.5.0157.2 Plus. Please confirm that is your version number, or if not, what the number is. Anything less than that number will not handle AVCHD correctly.

Capturing from your camera should be relatively simple. As it is a hard disk camera, you connect it to your computer using the mini USB cable that came with it. Your computer should see it as another hard drive, and you just transfer the video files from it to a folder on your computer. The files will have the .m2ts extension. Then to get them into Video Studio, you choose the "Insert DVD/DVD-VR or AVCHD" command by right clicking in the library window. You browse to the folder where you put the imported files, and choose the ones you want.

Please note that even though you have a Quad, AVCHD is still very demanding. And even opening a file will take some time. It will not be instant, as it usually is with standard definition video. So just be patient.

Thank you

for the prompt reply. Yes I have the latest patches. I was asking because Costco has a sale and this Canon is a lot less $s than the uquivalent Sony.

I looked at this thread, as I've just shot some footage with a Canon HG10.
The footage playback is jerky in editing mode compared to the JVC HD7 (Each camera requires different project settings.)
I'm using a quad core Q6600 computer with 3 gb ram.
However, I was interested in what Ken said about the different versions of VS 11.5 plus.
I am using 11.5.0157.0.
Does that mean that 11.5.0157.2 would handle the HD footage better?
If so, is there an upgrade or add-on available?
The likelilhood is that in the future I will be mixing footage from both camcorders - what would be the best project setting to do that?
SW.

You should install the Update Pack, then the Power Pack. Ignore the Hot Fix, as that is for installation problems.
