I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder which will finalise a completed DVD-R disc (4.7 Gig) in about one minuite. I simply do not like the menu options that it gives you.
What app would be best for a simple menu generation?
ie - Dump the DVD-R into the PC (contents in-tact) -Generate a menu - Write that menu to the existing disc and finalise it.
That should take about 2 mins.
The video does NOT need re-rendering.
It is completely compatible 'as is'.
It does not even need to move the video to the HD and back again.
The disc came directly out of the recorder.
I do not understand why the Recorder takes one minute to add a menu and finalise but DVD Movie Movie Factory takes 4 hours.
I clearly have the wrong app for the job.
What is the best application to use for DVD Recorder files?

Hi,
I've been recording files on a panasonic unit for quite a while and
importing the dvd's into MF, creating a menu and burning.
Doesn't take 4 hours because the mpg2 file is already compliant.
(Motion Menus add time).
When you import the dvd and after it's on the timeline write down
where the mpg2 file was imported to on the harddrive.
(It will be in a sub-directory UNDER the "Working Folder").
Then delete the file from the timeline (that will not delete the video on the harddrive).
Then re-import the video from the harddrive and Save the project.
When you re-import the video it shouldn't have an "X" in the thumbnail
on the timeline.
Then hit the "Gear Icon" on the bottom and make sure
"Do not convert compliant mpg2 files" is CHECKED.
If your perform any editing to the video it will be forced to re-render which
will take awhile unless you make your "project properties" exactly the
same as the source video's properties.
If you don't have the dolby audio plugin with MF as long as you don't
edit the video(mpg2 file) and it's not re-rendered then the dolby audio
will be on the final dvd. You simply can't hear it when you play it in
MF.
Also, make sure your opening up MF to create a dvd and NOT "Edit Disk".
Hope this helps,
MD
