No audio on Video Studio 10 project

Post by Ynot »

Evening.
I've recently upgraded the PC and re-installed VS10 onto the new, improved, beast in front of me now, but have hit a hurdle.

Whether I'm looking at an imported project or starting a new one from scratch, I seem not to be able to get the audio tracks to play when playing the project as a whole.

I can select the music track and play it from within the timeline without a problem, but select the project and all I get is the sound of silence.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be a quick fix from someone who knows, but after scanning and searching the forum I can't find anything that fits my bill so far.

Drivers have been checked and updated where found wanting. I'm at a loss to explain why. I never had this problem back on the old slow-coach...!

For info I'm running Vista on a dual core 2600Ghz machine with Asus P5K Pro 'board (on-board audio) and a GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Have you applied the Vista compatibility patch for VS10? For what it is worth, I use VS11.5+, but have loaded VS10+ on the same Vista Ultimate computer for one specific purpose. I have not bothered using the Vista patch since VS10+ does the one thing I want it for without the patch. But I have noticed that it does not play back the audio, and wonder whether the Vista patch corrects that.

Thanks, Ken.
No - hadn't found the Vista patch, so wasn't aware of it.

<Scurries off to find said patch to try>

Well, another upgrade - this time moving from Vista to Windows 7, on the same basic PC setup.
I get the same issue - ie no audio - so searched around for a Win 7 patch similar to the Vista patch used before, but no luck so far, and no joy yet trawling this forum.

Any pointers?
Or should the Vista patch work for Win 7 also?

VS10 was out long before Windows 7. As such, support for v10 ended long before Windows 7, so there is no Win7 patch.

I was half expecting that response... :(
So - what's the upgrade to VS10 that Win 7 will recognise?

I think X3 was the first to be designed for Win7. But the burn module was so crappy I would just go with the current X4.

Ditto, Ditto, Triple-Ditto!!! In fact I don't think you could upgrade to VS X3 since VS X4 is the current version. Upgrade speaks directly to the price discount applied and that is only available through Corel. You might be able to find someone that may pay you to take VS X3 off their hands...

Hallo,

I have just reinstalled my VS10 on my new desktop. Previously I had Windows XP but am now using Windows 7. I receive an error 'failed to build a preview graph' and I have no sound.

In a nutshell, is there a patch for Windows 7 with use of VS10? Alternatively should I simply upgrade to another VS product?

Many thanks

Carole

Later addition

YAY ...........the patch worked first go!!!!! Many thanks.

.... Ummmm... Which patch was that??? There has never been a patch to make VS 10 work with Win 7. The only patch for that was for VS X2... It would not work with VS 10... Nor would Corel ever produce a patch which might have made VS 10 work with Vista, but not with Win 7...

Are you referring to the Vista patch for VS 10? I would guess since Win7 is very similar to Vista, the Vista patch allowed it to run on Win7. :)
