More details
I have install the software that came with the video camera, and it looks like only two programs got installed.
I have windows xp sp2 with 1 gig of memory.
-when I connect my canon hg10 I only get the hard disk to come up and a folder that is on the canons hard disk.
After that I am not able to make any trunsfer with the software.
I could go into the stream folder on the cannon and copy the files 0000.mts
how do I convert them?

Use of correl SE with cannon HG10
Heres what I did. The software sent with the HG10 camera is way outdated. It is an OEM disc with version 2 of movie studio. Movie studio is now at version 6.0. If you try to upgrade online it will tell you that you can't because you have an OEM version. I called Corel support and they allowed me to download the upgrade to version 6.0 for $39. Once you install that, to allow for burning Blue Ray or HD DVD (on a standard DVD disc) you have to install "Patch 2" from the site.
Once you do this, plug your USB cable in from the HG10 (only after you have turned it on and have it set to play), and then use the "DVD Folder" import button. Find the drive that corresponds to the Canon hard drive, go to the directory AVCHD and you can then import clips. You can make a beautiful HD DVD (I don't have blue ray) with menus etc., but you can't use the "edit room" or "join video" functions of the software for some reason. I have an EMAIL into Corel about this. Good luck
