Same thing has happened yet again in DMF6....had an AVI file with actual 5.1 sound, converted it to MPEG2 format using Super and put that through DMF6, keeping the settings fir 5 channel sound, and had the same thing happen again with the front channel sound being pushed over to the right channel. Haven't yet tried extracting the original AC3 sound to a separate file and putting that into the project yet, but WHY does this happen? Shouldn't DMF simply be able to accept and process AC3 5.1 sound and keep it as it is in my final project file?
I'm basically stuck with two video files containing 5.1 AC3 sound which I still haven't been able to do anything with. Even if I change the project settings to AC3 2.0 sound, the audio in the front channels gets pushed over to the right by DMF...Why?
Also, when inputting a separate AC3 file of the video's audio, what is the correct way of doing so? Should the video file's own audio be muted or not? There's also 3 ways of inserting an audio file in the Edit room: Simply selecting an audio file, or inserting "To Music Track", or inserting "To Voice Track"....what is the difference here between the choices, and how should I be doing this?

I tried again on another project from an AVI with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, converted it to MPEG using Super and retaining the same audio stream....and when I tested it out with a rewritable disc, when playing it on my player, I had the same problem with the front channel audio of the left channel being pushed over to the right channel.....but every time I used the Chapter skip button, each time I went to the next chapter, I could momentarily hear the left channel correctly for a split second before it got shoved over to the right channel.
Something ain't right here.....HOW can I get 5.1 sound to work CORRECTLY when using a 5.1 source?

Does anyone happen to have an answer/solution, or is it just that DMF6 isn't as good of a program as it's supposed to be, and it really can't handle 5 channel sound?
I happen to have yet another AVI file which most definitely has AC3 5 channel sound, as does two other files I've mentioned and still have....and they are most definitely 5 channel/AC3 sound, regardless of what some have commented to the contrary in other replies in this thread.
I would really like to make this work in DMF6, or am I wasting my time with this program as far as AC3 5 channel sound goes??

I don't know... (I don't work for Corel, and I have an older version of Movie Factory.) But, Movie Factory is an entry-level "consumer program". It has lots of features (more features than professional DVD authoring programs), but it's not "bullet proof".Does anyone happen to have an answer/solution, or is it just that DMF6 isn't as good of a program as it's supposed to be, and it really can't handle 5 channel sound? ...

The Movie Factory developers probably don't expect you to do this... Where do you get a legitimate AVI file with 5.1 AC3 audio? Do you have a camera that generates these files?
If I had such a file, I'd be looking for a way (other software) to "pre-process" it... If you can feed Movie Factory a DVD-compatible MPEG-2 file (with 5.1 AC3), you can check the Do Not Convert Compliant MPEGs box, and everything should be fine.
Or, you may be able to feed it separate MPEG-2 video and AC3 audio files.... That's how most professional DVD authoring software works... Pro DVD authoring software just does authoring, not editing/encoding/transcoding. Or, Maybe you can feed it separate MPEG-2 and a 5.1 channel WAV, or 6 separate WAV files. (I haven't tried any of this.)
I believe the 0x2000 is the stream ID number, not the number of channels. (The 0x prefix means hexadecimal in the C/C++ programming languages, and probably some other programming languages too. 2000(hex) = 8192(decimal)... It's just a number.)Ah sheesh....
In the same Audio area of GSpot, it also says:
"ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc"
Which is why I don't understand the other area which says "448 kb/s (5 ch) CBR".
Maybe this isn't working because it really IS 2 channel DD, not 5 channel.
