AC3 audio not importing with mpeg file
I am using the Ulead DVD Workshop 2 and i imported an mpeg 2 file with dolby AC3 audio at 192 kbps and i created the menu and all but i noticed that there was no audio imported from the mpeg video file and when i previewed the dvd and still there was no audio i figured that the audio had not been imported and that was proved when i saw that approximately only half the size of the original file was showing in DVD workshop. I can play the file fine in Media Player Classic and I have tried updating it and all but it did not work. Please help as I need to make a presentation for my work and I am really on a tight schedule to get it finished. Thanks in advance!
1. Please fill in your profile (see PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING...)
2. Please tell us what the imported file properties are in detail
3. Please tell us what your project settings are
4. Please tell us how you obtained the original file
Comment: in general, an AC-3 audio stream is typically only about 1/30th the size of the video stream. If you are losing half, then this means you are losing a lot more than the audio. It may be that the mpg file is corrupt (this happens more frequently than you think). Corrupt files often play correctly but applications, like this one, that have to analyse each block header in detail, may baulk at downloading them: it requires only a single bit of error and it won't work.

The media source is from my HDD camcorder and it is a vacation video with my family and kids.

OK, I can see some potential difficulties here. WS2 is an old (pre-HD, pre-16:9) application. It is often able to get round some of the problems of more modern formats, but without any guarantee,
What I suggest is that you download and install the trial version of VideoStudio 11.5+, take your video into that and generate your DVD-compliant files, using the Share, Create Video File functions to encode it. You can then take the new MPG file into WS2 for authoring without any need for re-encoding. There is one potential problem, though; I'm not certain that the TBYB version will encode AC-3, maybe only the full version.
Let us know how you get on, please.
