I installed WINDVD 9 with no problems. (at least 8 times). Install was smooth but when I try to play a video I get no picture. There is sound but it seems to be skipping.
I used Windvd 8 for a long time with no problems but then, after a system restore, I had the same no video problem. I upgraed to 9 hoping it would fix the problem.
Windows Media Player also started acting up but a reinstall fixed that.
Now Windows Media Player, Real Player, DIVX, and Quicktime are working but I cannot view commecial movies.
I tried another movie viewer and got the same problem. So WINDVD is probably good but there is another glitch. Sure could use some wisdom. I am out of my depth on this one.

Welcome to the forums,
Since you were having problems with other programs as well, I'm thinking that this would be a system problem.
Go HERE and download the latest MS Direct-X drivers. The most current is dated June 2008.
It appears that even Windows updates have been causing problems with NLEs, and updating DirectX to the most current seems to be fixing them. DirectX is not included with any Windows update, and must be manually downloaded and installed.

Thanks for your quick response. I downloaded the update but it didn't help. First time I tried to run WINDVD 9 after the Directx upgrade I got a message "Your display adaptor does not allow you to play protected files.". I was attempting to view a comercial DVD that I bought and have watched before.
At this point I am tempted to roll back my system to May when I know it worked. I used WINDVD 8. It stopped working in June. Just not sure what is going on. McAFee and other security and ad aware software says no problem. Seems to be some sort of corrution. At one point I had a message saying DPL100.DLL was missing. I also have software trying to reload and looking for MSI files.

I finally got WINDVD 9 installed, It took eight tries and the use of Norton Ghost to reset my system. I had to uninstall SCANSOFT PDF Converter 4 due to conflicts.
Now 9 is installed and works - except for commercial DVDs. I can play movies I have downloaded but movies purchased (legally not bootleg) get the following message at start up. YOUR DISPLAY ENVIRONMENT DOES NOT SUPPORT PROTECTED CONTENT PLAYBACK.
Fortunataly I still have WINDVD 8 installed and it plays all movies perfectly. I am using a full up, liscensed copy of WINDVD 9. Before I try to get my money back and stay with version 8 do you have any suggestions??
Thanks for your help
