I am using video studio 11+
I am trying to capture HDV When I am capturing HDV it is fine for a couple of minutes then it starts to hang and stutter.
I am using a Sony HVR-A1E with an i-link cable.I previously captured footage from the same camera with no problems but that was using XP
(I am now using Vista home premium).
If I have i-link conv set to on the source window says "sony device"
if set to off it says "HVR-A1E" but wont capture
My processor is an AMD Athalon 64X2 dual core 3800+2.01ghz .1023MB ram. 232GB (84.1 free).
I am trying to edit a wedding video for a client, please can you help?

Welcome to the forums!
And nice camera!
I have no idea, though, why you are having difficulty capturing from it via firewire/i.Link... Both VS10 and 11/11.5+ works on my Vista Ultimate machine capturing via firewire from my HDV Canon HV20...
You can, however, test whether there is anything wrong with your firewire card or cable, or possibly at the camera end, by doing a Google search for a small, free capture program called HDVSplit. That is the program I in fact now use for my captures -- not because VS11.5+ can't do the job. It's because VS11.5+ in capturing HDV, does it all as one big file, whereas I prefer to create a separate file for each scene, and HDV Split does that.
Anyway, if you use HDVSplit and it works, then that would suggest there is something wrong with your VS11.5+ installation as far as capture is concerned. And if it does work, then at least you have a work-around until the problem with VS11.5+ is worked out. Or else you will adopt HDVSplit permanently, as I have!!!
