no dvd drives

Hi all

I have searched for a solution to this issue alas am unable to find one.

Im using video studio 11 + and have never had any hassles with it. For some unknown reason I am now unable to import from DVD or burn to DVD as the box that comes up where you select the drive you wish to use is empty.

This was working about three weeks ago when I did my last DVD but has stopped since. Ive not installed any new updates and there are no hardware changes on my pc. I am using both an external and internal dvd writer.

Any suggestions?

I have tried the reinstall, clean uninstall but it has not helped. As an edit I am not getting any error messages either.

Many thanks

Welcome to the Forums.

Is it only Video Studio that can't see the drives? In other words, does Windows show they are there and can other programs use them?

Hi Ken

Yes the pc shows the drives fine and am able to use nero for burning as well. I didnt mention in my profile that I use dual boot of vista and xp. They run of different harddrives but the same pc. I have installed video studio on the vista drive and it runs fine.

So I am now removing the xp side of my pc and moving to Vista. However if you have any idea what the issue is then I can still supply information should someone else come across it.

cheers
