Hallo everybody,
I am not sure, but somewhere I had spotted a reference to Sony`s new
HDR-SR12, somewhere in the forum pages. I have VS 11.5 installed on my 32bit Vista PC, and I was wondering if this HD camcorder is compa-
tible with the program (i.e whether VS can transfer AVCHD footage from
it). Has anybody among VS users bought it, yet? Your help is greatly a-
ppreciated, since the compatibility lists in Ulead`s website date back to..
2006 ! :)

I have SR11 (same as SR12 but only 60GB HDD), and use is with VS11.5 wthout problems. Where I am not shure is about writing back an edited AVCHD file back to the cam's HDD.

Thanks Erdna ! Your response gives me hope that it should cooperate
with the SR12 (120 GB capacity). Do you actually transfer video conne-
cting the USB port of the camcorder to the USB 2.0 of the motherboard ?

Yes, I connect through USB 2.0 and download the footage using Sony's Picture Motion browser, which I also use for rough cleanup. The Sony (m2ts)files can then be imported into VS11 for further editing.

Thanks a lot for that confirmation about the transfer via USB. At last,
we have HD video with 1.0 pixel geometry as opposed to that horrible
pixel-shifting (1.333) in order, to fill the 16:9 display aspect ratio.

How can m2ts files be imported into VS11?

You have to use the command 'Insert DVD/DVD-VR or AVCHD.' Or if your camera is a Sony, use the software which came with it to get the m2ts files onto your computer. But you need at least to tell us which camera brand and module you have.

Just click in the video library on the "load video" icon, and go to the m2ts files you transferred via PMB, select the m2ts files you want and click "open". Also straight timeline loading can be achieved with the simular icon just above the timeline
