VS 11 Free Trial

Hello all.

Great to see there is a forum dedicated to the Corel Family of products. I was having audio issues with version 8, and thought I would give 11 a run and downloaded the free trial.

After completing the installation, I opened the program and was taken to the activation screen. It said I have 0 days remaining, and the "try" button is grayed. I just downloaded the free trial today, and would like to give v.11 a try. Any ideas?

Without re-installing Windows you are out of luck.
Either try it out on another computer or wait for the release of VideoStudio 12
It has already been released in Japan so hopefully it will appear in the rest of the world within the next few months.

That very much defeats the intended purpose of a "free trial" now doesn't it?

There are several other programs on the shelf to choose from, I guess I will have to take my business elsewhere from now on then.

Unfortunately that's one of the pitfalls with ESD programs, especially trial versions. The program has a built in safe-guard that will trigger if it thinks someone is trying to circumvent the 30 day limit. Something as simple as resetting your PC clock to a time previous to installing. The trial period will expire immediately. Software companies need to do this to protect themselves from those that intentionally try to defeat trial times.

Corel has no way of knowing if the trial version just messed up, if the program had been used for the 30 days, or if someone tried to get around it.

Sorry to hear that you must take your business elsewhere. However no one on this board is employed by Corel, just everyday users like yourself. So we have no control over things like this.

Oh and don't feel alone, I've had the same experience with another Ulead program. I just determined that I did really want to use the program, and purchased it.

I had purchased a previous version (V8.0) when Ulead still marketed their products, and have had great success with it, however, when I recently attempted to edit an analog video of a recent trip to Whistler it would not capture the audio to the DVD.

I thought perhaps it was a bad input cable, so I recorded the entire tape to DVD+R with success. Using the DVD+R as a source to edit with V8.0 was unsuccesful and the frustration may have left me with the desire to upgrade when it may not be necessary.

The issue I have with attempting to continue to edit with V8.0 is it appears to no longer be supported.

A couple of thoughts. You have not told us what operating system you are using. If it is Vista, then of course VS8 is not compatible with Vista.

And if your conversion of the original analogue video involved Dolby AC-3 at some stage, then VS8 did not come with the Dolby plug-in (although at the time you could buy it for around US$30 IIRC).
