Here is a procedure that works for installing Video Studio 11.5 Plus purchased from Amazon.com ( as of July, 2008):

First, before installing, go to the Corel web site and navigate to the 'Patches and Updates' page under 'Support'.

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 2796559943

Click on the 'Video Studio 11' entry in the left column.

Download and install the first entry: "Ulead VideoStudio 11/11Plus Hot Fix01"

Second, go to the Microsoft site and download the DirectX update.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 6652cd92a3

Third, Install Video Studio 11.5 Plus. On some computers, the Autorun (Autoplay) program will not run. The instruction manual on page 18 tells you how to manually start the setup program. Here is what you should do:

Open Windows Explorer. Navigate to the CD drive under My Computer. Open the CD drive file. Navigate to the entry 'setup.exe'. Double click on it. The setup will launch.

Early in the setup process, you will be asked to fill in three fields: Your Name, Your Company and the Serial Number.

Fill in all three fields. If you do not have a Company, fill in you name again.

Where is the Serial Number? It is the number printed on the back of the paper CD jacket. Be sure to enter it exactly as printed including the dashes ( - ). Be careful of letters. The letter 'B' is not the number '8'.

Fourth, after the installation is complete, go back to the Corel ¡¥Patches and Updates page.

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 2796559943

Click on the 'Video Studio 11' entry in the left column.

Download and install the entry: " Ulead VideoStudio 11 Update Pack - English, November 6, 2007 " 27 MB.

Fifth, after that installation is complete, go back to the Corel ¡¥Patches and Updates page.

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 2796559943

Click on the 'Video Studio 11' entry in the left column.

Download and install the entry: "Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Power Pack - English, November 8, 2007" 54 MB.

After these steps, verify your version of Video Studio 11.5 Plus. Open the program, and launch one of the modules ¡V ¡¥Video Studio Editor¡¦. After it opens, click on the ¡¥?¡¦ button in the upper right hand corner. Click on ¡¥About Ulead VideoStudio¡¦. The first line under the picture should read: ¡§Ulead VideoStudio 11.5.0157.2 Plus¡¨. If it does, you have the current version of the program.

Moderators, please post any corrections you notice.

Followed the same procedure on the Amazon product, except for installing the hotfix, on a Vista Home Premium laptop. Version reads: ¡§Ulead VideoStudio 11.5.0157.1 Plus¡¨.

Hopefully one of the Moderators will review this and give you a suggestion.

I already have in John's other post on this: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 726#161726

I am sure he only followed the instructions on the box and installed the Power Pack of 8 November, but not the first update patch of 6 November. It is the latter which gives the final '2' in the version number. The Power Pack gives you the '5'! 8)

I just purchased the Amazon version of VS 11.5+ and tried to use bogyeman62's excellent instructions, but hit a snag because my editing PC is not internet-connected.

In the step to install Microsoft's directx update, I downloaded the file to my other PC and transfered it to the editing PC via a USB flash drive. Apparently the file is not the update itselft but a file to trigger a web update from MS's site. Since the PC is not connected to the internet, it could not do the update.

Is there another solution other than connecting to the internet? I don't want to connect to the internet because I don't want to load software that could slow the system (anti-virus, spyware, etc) plus I would have to buy that software.
