How do I turn off the natural sound on a video clip. I just want the music track to be heard?

Easiest way is to simply mute it. With your clip selected, on the Options panel you will find the Mute button - looks like a speaker with an X over it. Click that and it will mute that clip.

How do I get to the options panel?
What is the red line above the "timeline"?

I think what BlackLab meant is the Video Panel, located just to the left of the Attribute Panel, when you have a video clip selected.

The red line is the Preview Project Range. You can select a portion of your project to preview, which is done using the same Mark-In/Out buttons used to trim while in Clip mode. I use this feature quite often, when I want to view an edited section in High-Quality Playback. That way VS will only render the "range" I've selected.

To remove the red line, simply select "Project" (not clip) beneath the preview window, then grab the little triangles and drag them to the ends, or move the playhead to the beginning/end and press the Mark-In/Out.
