Alludo USER to USER Web Board

Videostudio 8 used to work fine. I have not used it for a while but when I attempt to open it, it reaches the first menu ok but on clicking on any of the two choices it gives the 'Ulead Videostudio has encountered a problem and needs to close' box.
'Faulting application vstudio.exe, version 8.0.0.0, faulting module qdv.dll, version 6.5.2600.5512, fault address 0x000053c3.'
I have uninstalled the programme and deleted all ulead directories and sub-directories and reinstalled - exactly the same result. I've even done the same but installed the trial version 11+ - still the same result.
I don't know what to try next but I have 60GB of video to edit.

Going from memory, I think the faulting module mentioned in your error message is the DV/AVI codec used by Video Studio. However, it is a Microsoft-installed codec, not installed by Video Studio. I can't say that I have heard of the DV codec ever causing this sort of problem, but anything is possible.

It is also possible that some recent XP update (SP3?) has stuffed things up. The first thing you should do is go to the Microsoft DirectX website and install the latest update of Direct X which is dated June 2007. Note that DirectX is not updated automatically and you have to do it manually each time. It could be, for instance, the XP updates and/or SP3, will only work properly with the latest version of DirectX.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Have tried to install latest directx but it tells me most recent verion is already installed. Any other suggestions?
