Key Frames - how do they work?

Post by talented »

Could someone chime in relating to Key Frames, e.g. how do they work - or point me to an explanation?

I was thinking that once a key frame is keyed in, say on the Texture line under frame 5, frame 6 can have a different texture to the next key frame or the end of the animation. Well, it doesn't work that way - even with a key frame keyed in, the new texture takes over the entire animation. I'm probably not understanding this feature but I sure am interested.

Any input will be appreciated.

Maybe one of these TUTORIALS will help.

I did that and now understand the Key Frames concept.

Is it true that the Texture on an Object cannot be changed via selecting a Key Frame, for example one Texture from 1-5 and a second Texture from 6-10? It appears that way and that's a bummer.

Thanks for the input.

That is so... an object's texture is a "permanent" thing.

However... you can copy and paste that object, change the texture of the new object, and "hide" the original object. The end result will be what you are trying to do. So on frame 6, do the copy and paste. Hide the original, and change the texture on the copy.

That's a great workaround - thanks.
