Crackling sound on captured clips

Is there any one that can help me i am using uvs 8 with all the patches when i use uvs to capture the video thru the firewire uvs is adding a crackling/distortion on top of the sound. I have done a reinstall with no improvement but if i capture with moviemaker the audio is as is on the tape.

How exactly are you capturing your audio? Is this a DV camcorder or an analog to digital converter?

Hi THoFF

I am capturing via a mini DV camera, is it possible for it to be the camera although if i playback the tape direct from camera to TV via RCAs' the crackling is not there, i have played alot more and moviemacker slill doesn't alter the sound and uvs still does [2 more reinstalls] i could probally live capturing with mm but it wont save clips it saves as one file and splits clipps in software.

PS

If ichange capture settings from DV to MPEG the problem goes away but Quality suffers the camera is a sony Dcr- hc20e
