PSP X2 Installation Failure

I'm trying to evaluate the trial version but can't reach the end of the installation. I get nearly to the end then I get the following error message:

Error 2203. Database:
C:\WINDOWS\INSTALLER\f67175.msi. Cannot open database file. System error -2147287008.

I have XI installed and have renamed the ImageDB.db file to ImageDB.db.old in case it was stopping the installation but to no avail.

I haven't seen that error before, but it seems that it usually means the "System" doesn't have permission to write to that folder. How you go about changing that folder's permissions for the "System" user will depend on what version of Windows you're using, and whether you have simple file sharing enabled. There are several other possible security settings that could be relevant as well, and you'll need to have full administrative privileges to change them.
If you Google "Error 2203" you'll see plenty of descriptions of the problem in any number of applications and instructions to correct it.

Thanks for the nudge to Google. Found a piece recommending downloading an uptodate version of Windows Installer which I did and sure enough got X2 to install. Thanks again.
