Incompatibilities with Video Studio 9

After installing VS9 (Trial) I have noticed several problems that went away as soon as I uninstalled the program. First, the playback of mpg files in Windows Media Player were distorted. The picture was stretched out horizontally. I also had a severe problem in Ulead Movie Factory 3.0 when I tried to preview the results of a DVD project in the preview segment of the program. When I played the video, it was covered with red dashes up and down all over the video...a very strange thing I have never seen before. As soon as I took VS9 off the computer, (A Toshiba laptop with mobile ATI video drivers) both of these problems cleared up. I would like to know what is causing this (probably conflicting codecs) and what I could do to correct them before buying VS 9. Is there a way to let ULead know they may have a problem, as it isn't too good to conflict with one's own programs. (MFDC 3.0).
