Is there a shortcut to do this and keep them off of your hard drive?

Are you talking about when you create a new video? If so, then when you select Share > Create Video File and the select the format, then the dialogue box which appears, and in which give your new file a name, has at its top a little window labeled 'Save in:'. You designate wherever you want the final file here, as per normal Windows practice.

Or if you mean when you capture a video, you specify the location to save the files to here:

Thanks Guys, Both Tips Are Useful

and easy to follow, THANKS. Is there a short check list on this site for work flow for a vid? Like I found out it is not smart to add titles or subs till you have all your clips lined up!>>

Actually, Ulead was thinking when they put those tabs across the top. Capture>Edit>Effects>Overlays>Titles>Audio>Share is the order that will keep things orderly.
For more detail see the Tutorials section (link under my name) and check out the "From Camcorder to DVD" tutorials (there are 2 of them).
