This Audio question my have been asked before a 1000 Times..

This question may have been asked a 1000 Times before but.. I can't find the answer.

I am doing my first Video using Unlead 11 and the Video Clips from my recorder, and Corel supplied sound tracks all work fine after I burn a disc.

What I did do was occasionally add some comments through my mic. These comments play back perfect when I review the DVD before I burn a disk but after the disk is burned they don't seem to be there when I play them on my home DVD player and have very low volume when played back on my PC using Window Player, which tells me they were in fact recorded. Not sure what I have done wrong. Can anyone help?

I never use the built in audio recording function in VS. I always use a third party audio editor for my voiceovers, background music and other audio editing tasks. I happen to use the Nero WaveEditor, but others use a variety of programs, including a freeware program called Audacity which gets very good reviews. Make sure you record in .wav format.

Ken; Thank you for the reply, I will download Audacity and try it out.
The only problem I have is that I can hear the voice over in Unlead, even on the DVD review, prefect, but it just doesn't get recorded when I burn the disk.

I will take a run at it with Audacity and see what happens.

I am also wondering if your workflow is to edit the video, but then immediately choose Share > Create Disc > DVD. This inserts the *project* file in the burning module, instead of actual video and audio files. This results in a variety of problems for many users. We thus suggest that when you finish editing, you instead first choose Share > Create Video File > DVD. This will produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 of your project. Apart from anything else, you can then test that mpeg-2 in a software DVD player like WinDVD (which comes with VS11) or PowerDVD or even Windows Media Player, to make sure the voiceovers are there and at a suitable volume level.

Note also that after you produce your new mpeg-2, you go to File > New Project. Don't worry about giving your new project a name. The objective is just to clear the timeline of your current project.

Once that is done, you select Share > Create Disc > DVD. The burning module will open. Use the Add Media button at the top to insert your new mpeg-2 in the burning timeline. Then go to the middle of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen. There is a little box beside the words 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files'. Make sure that box is ticked (it usually is by default). That way, your already compliant mpeg file will not be re-encoded. Then build your menus and burn. And this time, you should find all your voiceovers are there, just as they should be in the DVD-compatible mpeg-2.

But I still suggest you use Audacity or similar program. It gives you more control.
