Adding new video track?

Post by rsherid »

Does VideoStudio allow you to add new video tracks (if so, how?) or do you have to work off of just one track?

Also, cross-fading: I understand how to add the black color block, but where's the crossfade option?

Thanks. After trying a handful of video editors, this one looks promising

Welcome to the forums,

The plus version does allow up to 6 overlay tracks. You need to be in Timeline view, then clicking on the 2nd icon from the right, along the top of the timeline will open the Overlay Track Manager. Place check marks in the boxes beside the numbers of tracks you want to add..

The Cross-Fade is found in the FX transition library.

Thank you. What about saving a project as an mpg or avi for YouTube upload?

Saving the Project does not produce a video file, just a project file, which uses the extension VSP.

You need to go to the Share step, and select Create Video File. Choose the video file format, WMV, MPEG, AVI or whatever. The Upload to YouTube feature uses WMV. It's best to have Windows Media Encoder 9 series installed, so that you will have more options available to encode to WMV. If you don't have it installed, you need to download and install it from MicroSoft's website.

Thanks. I saved it to .wmv, but why does my text look so pixelated in .wmv whereas it looks great in Ulead's preview? Here's one of my videos with text: http://vimeo.com/1249560

This could be due to the re-coding from WMV to FLV, which most hosting sites such as Vimeo, YouTube, and Veoh uses.

Also some font-types work better than others. This takes experimenting with some different fonts to find one that will work better for the finished output file type.

In VS's Preferences settings do you have the Resampling Option set to Best? This is found on the Edit tab.

How do I mute parts of the video track while letting an audio track (separate song) play throughout? Additionally, I just noticed the audio isn't synching with the video, i.e. the audio is faster than the video.

Lastly, there's a lot of lagging upon loading in a 350MB .avi clip. I have all of the recommended components, but is there anything I can do to make it run smoother?

Its more a case of what the Vimeo Site prefers in the way of uploaded videos and then getting VideoStudio to match those preferences. Each online video hosting service will have its own settings which will be different to others.
Video for VEOH will differ from Video for You Tube which will differ again for Google Video and so on.
