why wont Movie factory 3 work with avi files ? what can I do :?

there are many types of .avi files -- DV .avi, divx .avi, uncompressed, xvid, etc...

what type of .avi's are you dealing with? they might not be supported if they are xvid or something like that...

hi george, as far as to what I can tell they are just avi files.
I have tried converting them to MPEG 1 or MPEG 2 but when thats done the file size is blown out when I load it to burn yet when I check the MPEG file its well under what Movie factory says it is .. :?

try this utility to help determine the type of .avi file you are dealing with (yes, the name is interesting).

You should be able to use AVI files, both type 1 and 2, as the program will capture to both types itself. I don't know about any other types of avi files.

.avi is just a "container" that can hold many different types of video. DV type-1 or Type-2, DivX, Xvid, Huffy, uncompressed, and many, many more...
